Organization

The Corporation is governed by a Board of Directors which is composed of 12 members, including both the Chair and the President and CEO. The key responsibilities of the Board are to approve the strategic direction, corporate and business plans for the Corporation, to assess the Corporation's progress in achieving its strategic and business objectives, and to oversee the plans and policies in place to ensure effective communication with Parliament, the public and stakeholders.

Programming is central to CBC/Radio-Canada. The Corporation delivers programming in news and current affairs, arts and entertainment, and sports, as well as programs for children and youth. CBC/Radio-Canada delivers these programs through the following activities.

Television Services
National, regional and local television broadcasting services are provided in English and French through two national television networks, 23 regional stations and 17 affiliated stations.Television Services are also provided to northern Canada in eight aboriginal languages.

Radio Services
Radio Services are provided in English and French through four national networks and 81 regional stations, with some services to northern Canada in eight Aboriginal languages. CBC/Radio-Canada's international Radio service, Radio Canada International (RCI), broadcasts in nine languages via the Internet, digital and analogue shortwave, satellite, and some 400 partner stations worldwide.

Newsworld
CBC Newsworld is an English-language news and information specialty service distributed through satellite and cable delivery.

Réseau de l'information
Le Réseau de l'information is a French-language news and information specialty service distributed through satellite and cable delivery.

Galaxie
Galaxie is a continuous music network for the home or business market available by subscription on digital cable and satellite distribution. It currently provides 45 different channels of CD-quality uninterrupted music, 24 hours a day.

Transmission and distribution of programs
Since March 31, 2005, CBC/Radio-Canada programs have been distributed through satellite, microwave and landlines. Included is the provision of the signal that delivers service to the individual radio and television receivers through CBC/Radio-Canada transmitters, payments to privately-owned affiliates carrying CBC/Radio-Canada programs, and facilities to delay or pre-release broadcasts as required in the different time zones of the country.
