Canada Development Investment Corporation


General Information

Background

Canada Development Investment Corporation (CDIC) is a Crown Corporation named in Part II of Schedule III of the Financial Administration Act. CDIC reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance, and is managed by its Board of Directors who provide advice to the Minister as required. CDIC is not subject to the provisions of the Income Tax Act.

The Corporation was established in 1982 under the Canada Business Corporations Act, to manage Crown Corporations and investments assigned to it and to privatize its holdings when appropriate.

During 2007, the Corporation did not borrow from the Government nor did it receive any appropriations.
