Applications for Deposit Insurance
Description: This bank describes the personal information obtained from officers, directors, promoters, and certain shareholders of financial institutions who have applied for a policy of deposit insurance on behalf of their financial institutions. Such information may include the individual's full name; home address; telephone number; facsimile number; and email address; marital status; spouse and/or beneficiaries; personal financial details (which may include financial statements, income tax returns which individuals may have forwarded to CDIC of their own accord, shareholdings, etc.); and employment status and work history; and other information that may normally be included in a curriculum vitae.
Class of Individuals: Individuals involved in an application for a policy of deposit insurance and individuals whose names have been provided as spouses and/or beneficiaries of applicants.
Purpose: The purpose of this information is to assist CDIC in assessing the insurability of financial institutions that have sought membership with CDIC.
Consistent Uses: At present, there are no consistent uses for this information.
Retention and Disposal Standards: The records are reviewed on an ongoing basis and information that is more than 7 years old is removed.

Payments to Depositors
Description: This bank contains records of payments to insured depositors.
Class of Individuals: The information relates to depositors of failed member institutions.
Purpose: The purpose of this bank is to keep a record of payments made to insured depositors.
Consistent Uses: This bank is also used to support payments made to depositors of failed member institutions.
Retention and Disposal Standards: Information in this bank is retained for 7 years after the date of discharge of the court-appointed liquidator and is then destroyed by Library and Archives Canada.
